Winter Olympics Still Celebrated at Squaw Valley Ski Area and Village

By , About.com Guide

Squaw Valley USA is one of Lake Tahoe's outstanding ski areas. The ski area is centered around the Village at Squaw Valley and features numerous lifts to take skiers to the top of runs on surrounding Sierra Nevada mountain slopes. Squaw Valley, site of the 1960 Olympic Winter Games, is a top destination resort, but it is within easy driving distance from the Reno area for those just going skiing or snowboarding for the day. The Village has lodging, shops, restaurants, and that certain Olympics atmosphere no other place around Lake Tahoe can provide. Take the Cable Car to High Camp for a spectacular ride to an elevation of 8200' and access to more ski lifts, ice skating at the Olympic Ice Pavilion, the Olympic Museum, and dining with Lake Tahoe views.
