Alpine Meadows is one of Lake Tahoe's outstanding ski areas. The ski area is in a bowl and features numerous lifts to take skiers to the top of runs on surrounding Sierra Nevada mountain slopes. Alpine Meadows ski area is all about skiing - you won't find a bunch of shops, restaurants, and lodging right there, but all of those things are nearby. What you will find is terrific skiing and, if you venture high enough, awesome views of Lake Tahoe. Alpine Meadows is home to the Jamaica Ski Team, consisting of Errol Kerr. Kerr will compete in skier cross at the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver, Canada. Alpine Meadows is within easy driving distance from the Reno area for those just going skiing or snowboarding for the day.
