Hannah Teter is going into the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Winter Games at the top of her sport. The halfpipe champ won gold at the 2006 Winter Games in Torino and has picked up numerous halfpipe wins all over the world. Teter is a native of Belmont, VT, and owns a home at Lake Tahoe. The 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games run from February 12 to 28.

Teter's Halfpipe Record

Teter became a world power in women's halfpipe snowboarding with her gold medal at Torino. In 2009, she placed first at both the U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix and the Burton Australian Open. Prior to Torino, Teter placed third at the World Championships. Overall, she has six World Cup wins in ten appearances.

Teter Takes Halfpipe Silver

Halfpipe champion Hannah Teter didn't have quite enough juice on her last run, having to settle for silver behind gold medalist Torah Bright of Australia. Another American, Kelly Clark, hung in there for the bronze.

What is Halfpipe Snowboarding?

Halfpipe snowboarding is a competition where each boarder performs a series of tricks and maneuvers in an area shaped like a pipe cut in half the long way. A panel of judges grades style and difficulty to give the rider a score.

Teter's halfpipe teammates on the 2010 U.S. Snowboarding Team are Gretchen Bleiler, Aspen, CO, Kelly Clark, Mt. Snow, VT, and Elena Hight, South Lake Tahoe, CA.
