When an Amtrak passenger train was approaching a crossing about 70 miles east of Reno on June 24, truck driver Lawrence Valli smashed through the crossing gate and hit the train. The fiery crash killed Valli and five people on the train. Details about circumstances surrounding the accident and its cause are being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). A report has yet to be released.
