Definition: This name is applied to various features, including the Truckee River that flows from Lake Tahoe to Pyramid Lake, and Truckee Meadows, the valley wherein Reno and Sparks are located. It was named after a Paiute Indian guide and chief.
Pronunciation: truck-ee, with "ee" pronounced like a long "e."
Examples:
The Truckee River originates from Lake Tahoe, flowing through Reno on the way to its terminus at Pyramid Lake.
