Definition: Geiger was the name of a man who, in the early 1860s, ran the toll road from Steamboat Valley south of Reno to Virginia City and the Comstock via a steep climb up the Virginia Range. Today, a much improved route is still called the Geiger Grade Road (Nevada Highway 341).
