Definition: Frederick DeLongchamps was born in Reno in 1882 and became one of Nevada's most prominent architects. Perhaps his most famous building is the Washoe County Courthouse in downtown Reno. Another famous DeLongchamps building is the art deco U.S. Post Office, still standing next to the Truckee River in Reno. During his career, DeLongchamps designed over 500 buildings and became the official Nevada State Architect in 1919.
Pronunciation: de-long-champs ("champs" as in shamps). This is a French word, so the pronunciation may be different in that language.
