Book Sale Bonanza is the semi-annual booksale sponsored as a fundraiser by Friends of Washoe County Library. Billed as Nevada's biggest book sale, Booksale Bonanza features over 100,000 items, including fiction and non-fiction books, vinyl records, CDs, DVDs, collectibles, Nevada books, and children's books. Prices typically start at 50 cents for paperbacks and 25 cents for children's books.

Proceeds from Booksale Bonanza support various programs at the Washoe County Library.

Time and Place for the Book Sale Bonanza

Booksale Bonanza is a twice a year event. The spring event is typically held sometime during April-May and the fall event around October-November. Check with the Friends of Washoe County Library calendar of events for details. For more information, call (775) 772-6297.

Booksale Bonanza is held in the old EXCEL building at 5205 Mill Street in Reno. It is at the corner with N. Edison Street, between McCarran Blvd. and S. Rock Blvd. There is lots of free parking.

Spring 2012 Booksale Bonanza is April 27 - May 7

The first day of Booksale Bonanza is a preview reserved for Friends of Washoe County Library members (you can join at the door). The fall 2012 preview day is Friday, April 27, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The remainder of the event is open to the general public.

  • Saturday, April 28: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sunday, April 29: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Monday through Friday, April 30 - May 4: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday, May 5, Half-Price Day (except collectibles and nearly new): 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sunday, May 6, Bag Sale Day: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pick your own bag of books for only $6 (Friends supplies the bag).
  • Monday, May 7, Take it Away Day: Teachers and non-profit organizations, from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.

How To Donate to Friends of Washoe County Library

Items sold at Booksale Bonanza come from generous donations from members of the community. You can drop off up to two boxes of books at any library branch or the Friends' Book Warehouse at 125 Gentry Way in Reno. For larger quantities, you must donate at the Book Warehouse. Items accepted include used books in good condition, DVDs, CDs, audio books, paperbacks, large print books, fiction, non-fiction, and current software. Donation hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 12 noon.

By joining Friends of Washoe County Library at any level, your membership dues constitute a monetary donation. You can also consider donating to the Second Century Endowment to help ensure adequate funding for library functions into the future.
