How to Play Nice on the Truckee River
- When using a designated river access spot (like Crissie Caughlin Park), have everything ready to go before approaching the site. Don't mess around with tubes, rafts, and gear while others wait their turn to launch.
- Wear a life vest and helmet.
- People going downstream have the right-of-way. Wait for an opening in traffic before getting on the water.
- Take turns in the holes and other features in the Truckee River Whitewater Park.
- Give anglers a wide berth and try to avoid floating over spots where someone is fishing. If you can't avoid coming close, don't raise a ruckus and ruin someone's fishing fun.
- Don’t tie up to a tree, rock or bridge to play in the features at the Whitewater Park.
- Don't fish near rafting and tubing launch areas.
- Don’t encroach on another angler’s space.
- Don't hog a good fishing spot. After fishing for a while, move to another location.
- Diving is not allowed in the Whitewater Park.
- Dogs must be leashed.
- Keep noise (like boomboxes) to a minimum.
- There is private property along the river - don’t trespass.
- Use public toilets.
- Don’t litter - if you bring it to the river, take it away with you.
- Children must be under adult supervision.
- Glass containers and alcohol are not permitted in the Truckee River Whitewater Park.
