Nevada Wolf Pack Joins the Mountain West Conference
The Nevada Wolf Pack football team will compete in the Mountain West Conference (MWC) starting with the 2012 season. The Pack will be playing teams new to Nevada fans, including Wyoming and Air Force. You won't, however, miss those traditional big games against Hawai'i, the UNLV Rebels, and Boise State (already in the Mountain West Conference). The Wolf Pack tangles with UNLV on Saturday, October 13 at Las Vegas, in what will be the 38th edition of the intrastate football rivalry, dubbed the Battle for the Fremont Cannon, the game's trophy since 1970. UNR won the 2011 game (37-0) at home in Mackay Stadium. The regular season ends with a matchup against Boise State in Reno on November 24.
