Arts in Bloom
Moms will like Mother's Day at the annual Arts in Bloom art festival in Sparks Marina Park, 300 Howard Drive. Admission to this art show and sale is free. It runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and benefits the Northern Nevada Susan G. Komen for the Cure Breast Cancer Foundation. A highlight is the celebrity painted plate auction, featuring work from stars like Olympians Jackie Joyner-Kersee & Dara Torres, Beetle Bailey cartoonist Mort Walker, world-renowned artist Andre Miripolsky, KTVN anchors Kristen Remington & Wendy Damonte, Roberta Flack & many more. Moms on the Run
Moms on the Run is a non-profit which raises money to help Northern Nevada women with cancer. The event has several run or walk options so everyone who wants to participate can do so. Race day begins at 7 a.m. at Foster Field, Reno High School. Entry fee is $35 till May 2 and $40 after. Sunday in the Park
The Reno Big Band celebrates "Sunday In The Park" with live 17 piece swing orchestra, featuring jazz vocalist Jakki Ford. The concert is from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the California Building in Reno's Idlewild Park. There will be food, drink, a raffle, and silent auction. Admission is $20 for adults (2 for $30), $15 for seniors (2 for $20), and $7 for youth 15 and under. Proceeds benefit the Youth Music Education Program. For more information, call (775) 324-2161.
Take Mom to the Nevada Museum of Art
On May 10, a guided tour of the museum, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., is included with the price of admission. Current exhibits include HELEN LUNDEBERG: The History of Transportation, and BETWEEN GRASS AND SKY: Rhythms of a Cowboy Poem. Mother's Day Special at the Golf Course
Take mom to either Sierra Sage Golf Course or Washoe Golf Course and she plays nine holes for free with
a paying adult or child. Playing time is between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Both courses are administered by Washoe County Parks.
Mother's Day Weekend Rail Motor Car Rides
At the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City, mothers ride for half fare on May 9 and 10, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Rides around the museum grounds are every half hour, on the museum's diesel-powered 1926 rail car. Call the museum at (775) 687-6953 for more information.

Mother's Day Concert at the Summit
The Summit in south Reno is putting on this Mother's Day event. Bring mom to enjoy a free concert by the Reno Philharmonic Youth Symphony Orchestra at 6 p.m., followed by a fireworks display. Treat her to dinner at one of The Summit's restaurants. Of course, plenty of great shopping is right there as well. The Summit is at 13945 S. Virginia Street in south Reno, at the corner with the Mt. Rose Highway.
