Reno / Tahoe Neighborhoods

Reno / Tahoe neighborhoods represent the region's demographic mix and history. Old Southwest Reno is one of the originals. South Meadows and Spanish Springs are among the newest neighborhoods out on the edges of our metro area. There are places for every style and budget.
Reno Credit Unions Offer Banking Services, Without the Bank
Reno credit unions provide the same services as banks, with one big difference - customers are members of the organization who profit from its success and have a say in how it is run. Members actually vote for the board, which is charged with providing value and good service to members. Credit unions are nonprofit organizations and in good financial health.
Reno Neighborhood Pace Car Program
The Neighborhood Pace Car Program is a simple way to help control traffic and speeding in Reno neighborhoods with a traffic calming method that is free and effective.
Downtown Reno's Riverwalk District
The Riverwalk District is downtown Reno's shopping area. Visit shops, boutiques, art galleries, and other attractions while you stroll along the Truckee River.
Shopping Malls, Centers, and Districts
Reno / Tahoe shopping has quickly made major progress. In just the last few years, shopping centers big and small have sprung up in every part of the metro area. This has been accompanied by facelifts at some of the older centers, an influx of small boutiques and shops, and the revitalization of some fun and funky shopping districts like Wells Avenue, California Avenue, and downtown Reno.
Thrift Stores
When I was in college, a newlywed, and broke, I discovered thrift stores. These places are fun and save you a bunch of money. Our Reno / Tahoe thrift stores are a motley lot, but that's part of the fun. Poke around and you are guaranteed to find something useful. Another plus; stores run by non-profit organizations do not charge sales tax (7.375% in Washoe County).
Neighborhood Advisory Boards
Neighborhood Advisory Boards provide a means for citizens to voice concerns, raise issues, and communicate with the Reno City Council on policies affecting their neighborhoods.
Neighborhood Crime Statistics
Use the City of Reno GIS MapServer to research crime statistics and lots of other stuff about your neighborhood or an area in which you are interested.
Neighborhood Watch Program
Reno PD can help you learn more about helping prevent crime through this neighborhood volunteer program.
