About the Reno Rainbow Fest
The Reno Rainbow Fest is a celebration of diversity and equality hosted by Reno's GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender) community. The first Reno Gay Pride celebration in Reno, founded by Kaye Crawford, was held in 1997. The annual Reno Rainbow Fest is an offshoot of that event.
Fest events and entertainment are geared to the gay community, but everyone is invited to participate. There will be a lineup of music and other performers on the Wingfield Park Amphitheater stage. The Children's Journey in Rainbow Land at the adjacent West Street Plaza will have a number of things going on for families and kids.
Attending the Reno Rainbow Fest
The 2011 Reno Rainbow Fest will be held during Artown on Saturday, July 9. The main venue is Wingfield Park, on the Truckee River in downtown Reno. The Children's Journey in Rainbow Land will be right across the river in the West Street Plaza and will include the Turbo T-Cup ride and Titan's Puppet Show. Admission to the Fest is $5. Children under 12 are free, as is access to the West Street Plaza activities. Festivities go from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The online venues map shows you where to find the main events sites.
