Fireworks are legal in specified locations on the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe Reservation north of the Reno / Sparks area. As a sovereign nation, the Paiute Tribe can and does enforce its own rules regarding the sale and use of fireworks.

Legal Fireworks Information

Fireworks are for sale on the reservation at two locations. You must be 18 or older, with ID to prove age, in order to buy fireworks. With your purchase you'll receive a permit to shoot off the fireworks at designated places on the reservation. Remember, fireworks are illegal everywhere else in Washoe County and just about everywhere else in northern Nevada and California. Buying fireworks at Pyramid Lake does not change the legal status off the reservation.

  • 1000 Smokeshop Circle, Wadsworth, NV 89442 (east of Reno / Sparks at Exit 43 from I80).
  • Nixon Store, 50 State Route 447, Nixon, NV 89424, (corner of SR 446 & SR 447).

There are four designated places on the reservation where you can shoot off fireworks. Pyramid Lake tribal rangers will cite you if you break the rules.

  • Indian Head Rock Beach
  • Rawhide Beach
  • Blockhouse Beach
  • Warren Flats
