SCORE - SCORE is a nationwide organization of active and retired businessmen and women who volunteer their services to assist small businesses and people who want to go into business for themselves. SCORE is a nonprofit organization and there is no charge for its services. Over 40 volunteers belong to the Northern Nevada SCORE chapter. Educational Resources for Reno Job Seekers

Career College of Northern Nevada - CCNN offers hands-on career training that prepares students to work for employers in Nevada and across the country. Graduates earn an Associate of Occupational Studies Degree in one of numerous training programs such as medical assistant, pharmaceutical technician, paralegal studies, computer technology, and electronic repair technician. Truckee Meadows Community College - In addition to associate degrees in a wide variety of occupational fields, Workforce Development ad Continuing Education (WDCE) offers non-degree classes to help workers hone existing skills. WDCE provides both employers and workers with opportunities to acquire new knowledge for today's challenging business climate. WDCE is based at the TMCC Meadowood campus, 5270 Neil Road in Reno. Extended Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno - Extended Studies offers a wide variety of courses for both personal enjoyment and career enhancement. Courses are mid-week, evenings, and weekends to accommodate busy schedules. These are noncredit courses and you don't have to be a registered UNR student. There are certificate programs and online courses. There are lots of upcoming courses from which to choose. You can register online or by phone at (775) 784-4046 or (800) 233-8928.

Academy for Career Education - ACE High School is a free, public high school for students in 9th through 12th grades. ACE is a charter school with a regular core curriculum, with students further focusing on the building trades, computer aided drafting and design, and diesel mechanics. ACE has received recognition for its academic achievement and its workforce development program. The goal is to provide students with the ability to obtain employment or continue on with post-secondary training. ACE High School is at 2800 Vassar Street in Reno. Other Reno Community Resources

Community Resource Center - The Community Resource Center is at the Sierra View branch of the Washoe County Library, 4001 S. Virginia Street in Reno (inside the Reno Town Mall). The staff here will help you find programs to suit a wide variety of needs, including job and educational opportunities, classes for GED, ESL, ESOL, and adult education, government benefits, senior services, medical and health services, and assistance for housing, shelter, food, clothing, and daycare. Computer workstations are available to help with educational and training programs. All of this, and more, are free for the asking. For more information, call (775) 827-3232 during library hours.

State of Nevada Employment Resources

Department of Employment, Training & Rehabilitation - DETR consists of divisions that offer assistance in job training and placement, vocational rehabilitation, workplace discrimination, and in collecting and analyzing workforce and economic data. Many DETR services are dispensed through a partnership with the Nevada JobConnect system. The Nevada Workforce Informer, operated by DETR, provides current information about the Nevada employment climate. DETR handles unemployment claims, which can be filed online, or by calling (775) 684-0350.

Nevada 2-1-1 - Nevada 2-1-1 is a central place to find help in these difficult times. Simply call 211 to find help and information regarding basic human needs, physical and mental health resources, programs for children and families, support for seniors and people with disabilities, volunteer opportunities, and more. This program is supported by numerous private agencies, government entities, and Nevada businesses.
