Global Kids Summer Camps help children learn about different cultures and places. The camps are sponsored by the Northern Nevada International Center (NNIC) at the University of Nevada, Reno. There are two five day sessions in July, held on campus at the University of Nevada, Reno - Five Continents in Five Days and Exploring Nevada's Native Americans.
What are Global Kids Camps
Global Kids Summer Camps provide children with an opportunity to learn about the world and different cultures through a variety of fun activities that teach about people, languages, arts, history, food, sports, music, and lots more. The goals are to "teach and excite children about their world around them, attempt to break down stereotypes to better show the realities of different communities, and to help them better understand their role as global citizens."Two Different Global Kids Camps
Exploring Nevada’s Native Americans Summer Camp - This camp explores the history and present-day culture of the Paiute, Shoshone, and Washoe people, Native Americans who live right here in Nevada. Kids will learn about rock art, food, stories, music, and take field trips to Pyramid Lake and Meeks Bay at Lake Tahoe. This camp is from July 6 through July 10, 2009.Five Continents in Five Days Summer Camp - Kids will enjoy globetrotting excursions without leaving Reno. The five continent exploration will include learning about foods, languages, music, sports, and dance. Children will participate in hands-on activities, be treated to visits from special guests, and go on field trips. This camp is from July 13 through July 17, 2009.
