Great Pizza From Local Restaurants

By , About.com Guide

There's pizza and then there's good pizza. You'll usually find the latter at these local purveyors of this Italian specialty. When you're not a chain store, you can work outside the box and come up with some unusual dining delights.

Rather than repeat myself, I direct you to my Black Rock Pizza Review. This is a really good pizza place.

Bru-Go's Pizza Co.

Bru-Go's Pizza Co. is a real restaurant, not the scruffy pizza joint you may be picturing. They have a complete menu of appetizers, sandwiches, salads, and gourmet pizza, either to their specs or you can build your own. An added touch is a nice wine bar and large selection of beers.

Nu Yalk Pizza is run by people who came from New York and have kept doing what they know how to do, which is make genuine New York-style pizza. They've been in Reno since 1978, a good indication that their food has made the grade.

Blue Moon serves up non-traditional deep-dish pizzas which are outstanding, according to other reviews I've read (I have yet to indulge). It's right near downtown, making it handy for those making the evening rounds.

Pizza at Sonny's is good, but the other Italian menu items are excellent as well. The atmosphere is comfortable and professional servers make sure you are treated right. A full bar makes Sonny's a complete experience.

I haven't been in this place. One second-hand report I have says it's a bit of a dive, but interesting anyway. The food was said to be so-so. There is a bunch of Reno memorabilia if you find that stuff interesting.
