You'd think this was Seattle or something, what with the great selection of good coffee shops and drive-thrus all around the Reno / Tahoe area. Getting a java jolt isn't a problem around here.
The Hub Coffee Co.
The Hub Coffee Co. serves only the finest brews from a combination of organic, Fair Trade, co-op grown, and shadegrown coffees, cultivated in a sustainable manner and without pesticides. According to Joey Trujillo, co-owner with his father Mark, you can really taste the difference with their carefully selected beans, exclusively from Barefoot Coffee in the Bay Area. Coffee at the Hub is French press prepared. For a real treat, try the "Cup of Excellence," a rare Guatemalan blend that isn't cheap, but then the best never is.

Java Jungle
Java Jungle is one of downtown Reno's oldest independent coffee houses. It's next to the Truckee River and has an outdoor seating area for those nice days. Deli-type food is available inside. Next door is a partner business, Jungle Vino.

Dreamer's Coffeehouse & Deli
Dreamer's is another independent coffee emporium. It resides in the restored old Riverside Hotel next to the Truckee River. Weather permitting, they set up tables outside. This place is laid back, with couches to lounge around on while reading or sharing a cup of joe with friends. Local artists display their wares in rotating exhibits. The deli has good food. Bring your laptop for free WiFi.

Kona Gold Coffee Company
Good location facing McCarran Blvd. in south Reno. Kona Gold is more your standard ambience rather than the funky fare found in the older downtown coffeehouses.

Bibo Coffee Company
Bibo is tucked back away from main streets, giving it a quiet, relaxed atmosphere. You can sit outside in a grassy area during those times of the year. I hear the place makes a mean (as in really good) espresso they call Monsoon Medley.

The Purple Bean
Northwest Reno hosts the Purple Bean. It's been around a long time and offers a comfortable place to enjoy your coffee, which is what a good coffeehouse is supposed to do.

Tahoe Roasting Company
Reviews I've read say this is a good coffeehouse with the right ambience. They have something called white coffee, which is really good according to reports. They also have soup, sandwiches, and free WiFi. Open Mic night is on Wednesday.
