About Workforce Development and Continuing Education

Workforce Development and Continuing Education (WDCE) is a department of Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC). The program offers non-credit college courses designed for small businesses, career advancement, job training, and personal enrichment. Courses are held throughout the year and are taught by expert instructors. These classes are available to everyone and are held on weekdays, weeknights, or weekends.

About WDCE Fees

Fees for Workforce Development and Continuing Education courses vary. Those who participate literally support WDCE through course fees. Unlike the rest of Truckee Meadows Community College, the program does not receive support through tax dollars.

Courses offered by Workforce Development and Continuing Education

WDCE offers a wide variety of courses under several topics. These non-credit courses are available to everyone in the community and include choices for adults, teens, children, and seniors. In addition, special events are periodically offered, such as a writers' conference.

For those who can't attend classes in person, or whose schedule will not allow it, WDCE offers several online courses. Some online courses are offered through third parties via an arrangement with TMCC.

With the online course catalog, you can view all classes on the WDCE website.

Courses offered by Washoe County School District Community Education

Since 2012, WDCE personal enrichment classes are offered through the Washoe County School District Community Education program. This arrangement saves money and eliminates redundancy. It's also more convenient for students in that courses and registration offered through both systems are available in one place. In addition, there are even more community education classes available from Washoe County School District Community Education that are not offered through WDCE. Many of these classes are held at school campuses and private businesses throughout the Reno area. Others are at the TMCC Meadowood Center. To learn more about classes, locations, times, dates, and fees, view the online community education course catalog. For more information, call (775) 829-9010.

TMCC Safety Center

The TMCC Safety Center features safety, regulatory compliance, and OSHA courses for businesses and workers needing such training. For assistance registering for classes of this type, call (775) 857-4958. Other TMCC Safety Center courses include forklift safety, lead training, and hazardous waste.
