Biking Trails Around Reno

The Bike to Work and School Week event in Reno is designed to raise awareness of bicycle riding as a viable alternative to always driving everywhere.

There are numerous bicycling trails around Reno and Lake Tahoe. Bike paths are found throughout the greater Reno metro area like the Tahoe-Pyramid Bikeway, or you can tackle more strenuous bike rides in the Lake Tahoe area like the Flume Trail and sections of the Tahoe Rim Trail.

The Tahoe-Pyramid Bikeway is a recreational trail designed for multiple-use... bicycling, hiking, walking, and horseback riding. When completed, it will be 116 miles long and span 2000 feet of elevation, from Tahoe City on Lake Tahoe's west shore to Pyramid Lake on the Pyramid Lake Indian Reservation.

Reno and Sparks are mostly flat, making getting around on a bicycle a relatively easy proposition. Those who find peddling a pleasant way to get around will find an increasing number of fellow travelers. Bloody Shins is a system of trails on BLM land east of Reno / Tahoe near Winnemucca. There are single and double track trails, suitable for beginner to advanced mountain bikers. Hikers and equestrians can also use the trails.
