2nd Annual Halloween Monster Jump at Pump It Up

October 28 - Witches, goblins and superheroes ages 2 to 12 are invited to our annual Pump It Up Monster Jump, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Come in your costume for Halloween jumping. (No makeup, swords or sharp objects please). The cost is $7 per child. Price includes jumping, treats and much more! Socks and signed waver are required to jump. Haunted Weekend in Carson Valley

October 22 - 25 - Get down to Carson Valley for a weekend of Halloween fun in Minden, Gardnerville, and Genoa. The haunted weekend features a different spooky event each day. Actually, two of them are at night, helping create the scary atmosphere we want at Halloween. These events should be fun and a nice change of pace from big city Reno. You'll even learn a little Nevada history. The Carson Valley is about half an hour from Carson City and South Lake Tahoe, and an hour from Reno.     Genoa was previously known as Mormon Station and is Nevada's first permanent settlement. Today, much of the town is part of Mormon Station State Historic Park.

    hands/ON! Sunday Family Program - Day of the Dead

    October 25 - Presented by the Nevada Museum of Art, 160 W. Liberty Street in downtown Reno. One hour sessions beginning at noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3 p.m. Everyone in the family will enjoy this free, fun program featuring hands-on art projects and gallery activities for all ages.

    Harvest Festival at Animal Ark

    October 10 - Bring the family to watch Animal Ark residents receive pumpkins filled with special treats. It's part of the behavioral enrichment program and everyone can enjoy this special time with the animals. The Harvest Festival is from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is $12 for adults and $10 for children. Animal Ark is north of Reno, reached by taking Red Rock Road (Exit 78) from US 395.     Halloween Spectacular in Virginia City

    October 31 - Come to Virginia City for a whole evening of Halloween events, including a Costume Parade on C St. at 5 p.m., safe trick or treating with the Virginia City businesses from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., special Halloween trains, Haunted Gold Mill on the Hill, and costume parties all over town.     All Hallows Eve in Virginia City

    October 31 - Bats in the Belfry presents All Hallows Eve in Virginia City, from 5:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. The night will include a buffet style dinner, discussion panel on paranormal investigating presented by Ghost Posse Inc., and four hours of ghost hunting in some of the most haunted places in Virginia City.     Carson City Ghost Walk - We Know Dead People

    October 24 - The Ghost Walk is a tour of some of the historic old houses in Carson City, Nevada's capital. Actors in period costume greet walkers and tell stories about the ghostly past. The first tour starts at 10 a.m. from Telegraph Square (3rd and Carson Streets). Additional walks depart every half hour, with the last at 3 p.m. For advance tickets, call (800) 638-2321 or (775) 687-7410. Adults are $20, ages 6 - 12 are $10, and kids under 6 are free.

    Halloween Celebration for People with Disabilities

    October 25 - A Halloween celebration for people with disabilities will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Recreation Gym, 98 Richards Way in Sparks. The event is sponsored by Sparks Parks and Recreation and Washoe ARC. Enjoy an afternoon of dancing with music provided by J.J. Christy of No Bull Media. Refreshments will be served and everyone is encouraged to wear a costume and participate in the "parade of costumes." The cost is $3 in advance or $6 at the door.     Halloween Festivities at Squaw Valley

    October 23 - 31 - The Village at Squaw Valley presents a week of Halloween fun for the whole family, including Halloween scavenger hunts every day. On the 31st, enjoy trick or treating and Halloween parties. Call (530) 584-6266 for information.

    Centennial Corn Maze and Fall Festival at Lattin Farms in Fallon

    Weekends in October - This year's Fall Festival celebrates 100 years of family farming at Lattin Farms. Activities for the family including the Corn Maze, Critterville, hayrides, a pumpkin patch, the cow train, a scarecrow factory, and pick-your-own produce. Hours for some of the attractions vary and can change depending on the weather. Call the farm at (775) 867-3750 for updated hours. There is also a Growers Market open 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, with fresh seasonal produce from local farms.

    Dress the Part(y) Haunted Halloween

    Thru October 31 - Dress the Part(y) is the only spooky spirit store on Lake Tahoe's north shore. In addition to costumes and other Halloween items, the store participates in several fall events at the Village Center in Incline Village. The address is 774 Mays Blvd., Incline Village.     Pumpkin Patch Family Carnival at Rideout Community Center, Tahoe City

    October 17 - Tahoe City, on Lake Tahoe's west shore, is the site of this family pumpkin patch event with food, games, and other activities. Pick a pumpkin from the patch and join the fun from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call (530) 583-3440 for information.
