Halloween Fun at the Washoe County Library
October, various dates - Several branches of the Washoe County Library are having Halloween events for children and families, and they're all free.Toll House Pumpkin Patch
October 1 - 31 - The Toll House Pumpkin Patch is a big production with lots of activities for the kids, including the Child's Garden bounce house, a petting zoo, hay fort, maze, and lots more. Tickets for the attractions are $1 each, with the number of tickets required varying for each activity. There is also a gift shop with pumpkins and other Halloween goodies.The Toll House is at 12185 S. Virginia Street, on the west side just south of Bishop Manogue Drive. Hours are Sunday – Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Rides close at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with rides closing at 8 p.m. The information phone number is (775) 636-5100.
Ferrari Farms Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch
September 26 - October 31 - Ferrari Farms puts on a terrific Halloween event. There will be a corn maze, bounce house, farm animals, hay rides, a mechanical bull, and pumpkins and squash for sale. Having a go in the corn maze is $5, with children under 2 free. Enjoying a hay ride is $3 per person and $10 per family. The bounce house is $1 per child. October 9 - 10, 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., and 15 - 18, 22 - 25, 28 - 29 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on weeknights and 7 p.m. to 12 midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. On the 30th and 31st, its open from 6 p.m. to 12 midnight - This haunted house has over 3,000 sq. ft. of scary space. Avenue of Screams will take you on a live tour of one of the most infamous haunts in the nation, Dr. Demiko's Mansion. Learn the truth about the claims of paranormal activity while investigating the supposed "Curse of Dr. Carnage." Note that this haunted house is really scary and not recommended for children under 13. It's $12, with a $2 discount if you bring a canned food item for Evelyn Mount's Community Outreach. October 31 - The Legends at Sparks Marina will be hosting a safe trick or treating event from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Bring the family for a safe and fun Halloween. Starting October 3 - Grimes Castle, Carson City's cursed haunted house, unleashes an entire evening of terrifying events at two locations. Both The Dungeon and The Labyrinth will be open for 5 weekends, from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. The dates are October 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, 25 29, 30, 31, and November 1.The Dungeon is located at 1809 N.
