Adults Only at These Reno Area Halloween Parties

Halloween activities just for adults are plentiful in the Reno / Tahoe region. Halloween falls on a Saturday in 2009, giving ghouls, goblins, and partyers a weekend night for their tricks and treats at these over 21 venues.

2nd Annual Dead Rockstar Halloween Party

October 16 - This Halloween party is at Amendment 21, 425 S. Virginia St. in downtown Reno. There will be DJs and live music by Man the Clap, and cash prizes for best costume. The party starts at 10 p.m. and goes till whenever. There is a $5 cover. (775) 786-0808.

Reno Zombie Crawl II

October 30 - The Reno Zombie Crawl II starts at 8 p.m. at Amendment 21, 425 S. Virginia St. in downtown Reno. It's free to attend, but you'll have to pay for the $3 drink specials at each of 9 bars. There will be a limited number of all you can drink wrist bands with proceeds going to benefit a local ALS charity. A "thriller video" finale is planned at the Celtic Forest art installation at Sierra St. and the Truckee River.

12th Annual Freakers Ball

October 31 - The 12th Annual Freakers Ball is at Brüka Theatre in downtown Reno. The door opens at 9 p.m. for this Benefit Ball and Costume Extravaganza. This year the Freakers Ball celebrates with dance, costumes, spontaneous eruptions of art, atmosphere, a fortune teller, lunacy, raffle, no host bar and happiness galore. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Reservations are available through the box office at (775) 323-3221. Box office hours are 12 noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Reservations are also available at the Melting Pot Emporium, 1047 S. Virginia Street. Advance reservations for this popular event are recommended.

Hollywood Undead Halloween Party

October 31 - Java Jungle & Jungle Vino present this annual Halloween party from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Come dressed as your favorite costar, movie starlet or rock star and enter our costume contest. The two Jungles are on the Riverwalk at 246 & 248 West 1st St. in Reno. Call (775) 329-4484 for details.

Skin & Scare Ball

October 31 - This sultry Halloween party is at the Edge in the Peppermill Hotel Casino, 2707 S. Virginia Street, Reno. A total of $5,000 in prizes will be awarded for costumes; scariest, sexiest and silliest. Skin & Scare starts at 10 p.m. with a $20 cover. Call (775) 826-2121 for more information.

Fantasies in Chocolate "Vampires Ball" at the Grand Sierra Resort

October 30 - Fantasies in Chocolate with a Halloween theme is a benefit for the Reno Gazette-Journal Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps fund local charitable organizations (more than $765,000 since 2001). Ghosts! Halloween Magic with Kalin & Jinger

October 23-24 and 30-31 - Ghosts! is a Halloween-themed magic show presented by Kalin & Jinger, our own local team of exceptional magicians. The show starts at 8 p.m. each night and is in the Celebrity Showroom at John Ascuaga's Nugget, 1100 Nugget Avenue in Sparks. Tickets are $15 adults, $11 ages 12 and under. Halloween Howler

October 30-31 - Halloween Howler is a two day Halloween party at the Eldorado Hotel Casino in downtown Reno. Spooktacular festivities include the Coffin Crawl before the Wild Erotic Ball, Mayhem on the Mezzanine, the Witche's Parade, "Blood Brothers" Costume Contest, and a Fright Flick at midnight on Halloween. You'll be treated to adult entertainment and drinks at various venues throughout the Eldorado. For more information, call (775) 786-5700.

9th Annual Wild Erotic Ball

October 30 - The 9th Annual Wild Erotic Ball is at the Silver Legacy Resort Casino in downtown Reno. Inspiration for this event comes from the Exotic Erotic Ball in San Francisco. There will be costume prizes for best male and female. The party is from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. and only 2000 tickets will be sold. Get yours for $35 at the Silver Legacy box office or call Silver Legacy Reservations at (775) 325-7401.

Die Pumpkin Die

October 30-31 - Come to the Grand Sierra Resort parking lot on both days, buy a pumpkin for $5, then launch it to a smashing finale with the pumpkin sling shot. The pumpkin launch is both days from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., 2500 E. Second Street in Reno. Part of the proceeds go to support the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. For more information, call (775) 789-2000.

On Oct. 31 starting at 9 p.m., the GSR's Xtreme Sports Bar & Lounge will be having its From the Crypt Halloween Party. Cash and prizes worth $7000 will be given away in a variety of costume categories. There's no cover for those in costume.

Freaks of Fashion Costume Contest

October 31 - This Halloween bash is at Enoteca in the Siena Hotel Spa Casino, One S. Lake Street in Reno. The party starts at 9 p.m. The $5 cover will include live entertainment and cash prizes for the costume contest. Call (775) 32-SIENA.
