Mother's Day Trunk Show at the Nevada Museum of Art
Saturday, May 12, 12 noon to 3 p.m. Come to theNevada Museum of Art in Reno to find the perfect Mother's Day gift from the work of ceramics artist Barbara Glynn Prodaniuk and jewelry artist Gail Rappa – both Wild Women artists. Trunk Show admission is free.

Mummy's Day Weekend at the King Tut Exhibit
Saturday & Sunday, May 12 - 13. The best place for "Mummies" on Mother's Day weekend is the King Tut: "Wonderful Things" from the Pharaoh’s Tomb exhibit at the Wilbur D. May Museum. Bring Mom to the exhibit on Saturday, May 12 or Sunday, May 13 and she'll get to see King Tut's mummy and the other spectacular hand-made reproductions of the wonderful treasures found in the Tut’s Tomb for free (with a paying family member) in celebration of her special day. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 12 noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Jackpot of Gems
Saturday & Sunday, May 12 - 13. Since most Moms like jewelry, the Jackpot of Gems show presented by the Reno Gem & Mineral Society might be something she would enjoy. The show will feature gifts and supplies and is the Society's main yearly fundraiser. The event will be at the Reno Livestock Events Center Exhibit Hall, 1350 N. Wells Ave. in Reno. There's plenty of free parking. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Mother's Day Sunday. Admission is $5 adults, $3 children 6 to 12, $4 seniors. 12th Annual Moms on the Run
Sunday, May 13. Moms on the Run is a non-profit which raises money to help northern Nevada women with cancer. The event has several run and walk options so everyone who wants to participate can do so. Race day begins at 7 a.m. at Foster Field, Reno High School, with registration and a continental breakfast. Online entry fee is $35 till May 9. Mailed entry fee is $37 through May 4. After May 9, registration is $45. Kids under 10 are $10. You can register online at the Moms on the Run website through May 9, or mail your registration to Moms On The Run, P.O. Box 10994, Reno, NV 89510. Mailed registrations must be postmarked by May 4, 2012. Call (775) 826-8117 for more information.

Ride McKeen motor car #22 on Mother's Day
Sunday, May 13. Celebrate Mother's Day by taking Mom for a ride on the world's only operational McKeen motor car at the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City. This historic car ran on the Virginia & Truckee Railroad and has been restored by the Museum. On Mother's Day, there will be departures every half hour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children 4 to 11, and free for kids 3 and under.
