Labor Day in Reno is really a three day weekend and the last big holiday weekend of the summer. The actual holiday falls on Monday, September 2 in 2013. There are plenty of things to do for your last summer fling, and then begins the long slide into fall and winter. Fortunately, we are situated right in the middle of an activities wonderland, some of which are free and don't even require a car to attend. Cost - conscious folks (which is just about all of us these days) can have plenty of Labor Day fun without breaking the budget.

Reno Area Labor Day Activity Ideas

It isn't necessary to drive much to find fun Labor Day activities right here in our own Reno / Sparks neighborhood. Check out this list of possibilities and most of you will find something fun and/or entertaining for this big holiday weekend...

Lake Tahoe Area Labor Day Activities

South Lake Tahoe is the only place near Reno that will have a Labor Day fireworks show. It will be on Sunday, September 1, starting at around 8:30 p.m. Show up early if you want to snag a spot at one of these best viewing areas - Nevada Beach, a couple of miles east of Stateline, Timber Cove Marina, Bijou Community Park, Tallac Historic Site, Edgewood/Tahoe, and Lakeview Commons/El Dorado Beach. Another option is booking a cruise on either the Tahoe Queen or M.S. Dixie II paddlewheelers and watching the show from out on the water. Here are some other ways to enjoy your Labor Day weekend up in the Lake Tahoe area...

Other Area Labor Day Activities

Both Carson City and Virginia City have fun things to do during the Labor Day holiday.
