Labor Day in Reno, the last big holiday weekend of the summer, falls on Monday, September 5 in 2011. There are plenty of things to do for your last summer fling, and then begins the long slide into fall and winter. Fortunately, we are situated right in the middle of a myriad of activities, some of which don't even require a car to attend. Cost-conscious folks (which is just about all of us these days) can have plenty of Labor Day fun without breaking the budget.

Reno Area Labor Day Activity Ideas

It isn't necessary to drive much to find fun Labor Day activities right here in our own Reno / Sparks neighborhood.

Reno Aces Baseball for Labor Day

Our Reno Aces will be playing their last 8 regular season games at home, beginning on August 29 and continuing through Labor Day on September 5. You can get tickets for these games either online or at the Aces Ballpark box office. There will be a fireworks show after the Friday game and other promotions through the weekend. The Labor Day game is Fan Appreciation Day and the last home game of the 2011 regular season.

Lake Tahoe Area Labor Day Activities

South Lake Tahoe is the only place near Reno that will have a Labor Day fireworks show. It will be on Sunday, September 4, starting at around 8:30 p.m. Show up early if you want to snag a spot at one of these best viewing areas - Nevada Beach, a couple of miles east of Stateline, and El Dorado and Regan Beaches, right in the city of South Lake Tahoe. Another option is booking a cruise on the Tahoe Queen paddlewheeler and watching the show from out on the water. Here are some other ways to enjoy your Labor Day weekend up at the Lake Tahoe area...

Other Area Labor Day Activities

Both Carson City and Virginia City have fun things to do during the Labor Day holiday.
