All during July, Artown presents a number of free music events, including...
World Music Series - Music artists from around the world perform free concerts on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. at the Wingfield Park amphitheater. Escape the confines of Reno with sounds from around the globe.
Rollin' on the River - Local and regional bands perform on Fridays during July at the Wingfield Park amphitheater. The music starts at 5:30 p.m. and it's free to attend. Past performers have included Booker T. Jones, Jesse Colin Young, Crash Test Dummies, Charlie Musselwhite, Michelle Shocked, Todd Snider, Stacey Earle, David Lindley & Wally Ingram, Norton Buffalo and Maria Muldaur. No glass, outside alcohol, high back chairs, or pets are permitted.
Patriotic Celebration at Wingfield Park - The MasterWorks Chorale is celebrating America with a free presentation of patriotic music at Wingfield Park. Some of the songs you will hear include the Star Spangled Banner, Battle Hymn of the Republic, and When Johnny Comes Marching Home. Bring your low back chair and enjoy. The show is on July 3 and starts at 4 p.m.
Pops at the Ranch - The Reno Philharmonic Orchestra performs at this free concert at the Robert Z. Hawking Amphitheater in Reno's Bartley Ranch Regional Park, on Sunday, July 3, starting at 8 p.m. Enjoy an evening of patriotic music to celebrate the 4th of July.
Americana Music Festival - Come to Virginia City to enjoy the (mostly) free Americana Music Festival from July 8 through 10. Music styles to hear include Americana, bluegrass, Irish, rockabilly, and folk. The Darrell Scott & Brothers concert at Piper's Opera House is on July 9 at 7 p.m. and costs $40.
Summer Music Series at Lazy 5 Regional Park
Every Wednesday evening from July 6 through August 31, the park offers free concerts showcasing local bands and a variety of musical styles. The series sponsor is Summit Christian Church. Additional sponsorship has been provided by The Goddard School of Sparks, Spanish Springs Pack N Post, and Laurie Brazier of State Farm Insurance. Lazy 5 Regional Park is located at 7100 Pyramid Way in Spanish Springs. Seating is on the lawn so bring blankets or low-back beach chairs. Dinner or snacks in small coolers are welcome. This free summer music series will be at the Legends at Sparks Marina, Saturdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Ranging from keyboardist to Indie-rock, the shopping center will host an array of musicians for the summer months to accompany and entertain shoppers. Thursday Nights on the Square
Merchants on Victorian Square in Sparks are hosting this series of Thursday evening concerts in conjunction with, but not part of, the summer run of the Sparks Whole Foods Farmer's Market. Performances will be from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the area around Great Basin Brewing and Cantina Los Tres Hombres. A partial list of bands scheduled to play includes Dead Winter Carpenters, Whitney Meyer Band, Blues Monsters, James Cavanaugh and the Charm of Hugo, and Ditch the Pilot.
