Halloween activities for just about everyone can be found in the Reno / Tahoe region. Families with children will find less scary fare such as pumpkin patches, safe trick-or-treating, and Halloween fun at the Washoe County Library. Adults can indulge in some serious Halloween partying if they so choose. For those brave enough, there are several haunted houses promising to deliver frightful experiences.

Carson City Ghost Walk - Legends of the Past
Carson City's rich and intriguing history is explored and theatrically relived during this 20th Annual Ghost Walk. "The Carson City Ghost Walk is a delightfully spooky and enjoyable way to experience Carson City's Victorian Era and diverse past. Meet lingering spirits of the past, including McAvoy Layne as Mark Twain, with many haunted and paranormal stories to take in. Some of our spirits even lead the guided walking tours of the downtown district's historic homes. Tours will visit inside at least five different houses and locals." These 90 - minute guided walking tours are on Saturday, October 20, and depart every hour beginning at 10 a.m. from behind the Firkin & Fox Pub on 3rd and Curry Streets. The last tour starts at 2:30 p.m.

Safe Trick - or - Treat at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada

Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, October 25 - 28, and Wednesday, October 31 - Walking Ghost Tours start at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. each evening, starting at the Silver Queen Hotel. Hear the stories of those that have chosen to never leave the Comstock and see their eternal resting places, including the Washoe Club. Special guest on the tours will be the Northern Nevada Ghost Hunter's Team. Tickets are $30 per person and must be purchased in advance. Before each tour, there will be a meet and greet with Janice Oberding, author of "A Ghost Hunter's Guide to Virginia City." If that isn't enough, an after - hours ghost hunting tour is available starting at 10:30 p.m. Tickets for this late tour are $80 per person and must also be purchased in advance. Ghost Hunt & Dinner at the Mackay Mansion
Wednesday, October 31, 6:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. - Join us for a champagne reception and elegant dinner followed by an evening of ghost hunting at the historic Mackay Mansion, built by George Hearst in 1860. Saturdays and Sundays, October 13, 14, 20, 21, 27 - This pumpkin themed train will create Halloween fun for everyone. Passengers can pick their jack - o' - lanterns from the V&T pumpkin patch. Trains depart at 11:20 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 3 p.m. from the Virginia & Truckee Railroad F Street Depot in Virginia City. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 kids. Haunted Halloween Evening Train on the Virginia & Truckee Railroad
Wednesday, October 31 - This haunted train ride is only for those who dare to be scared. Trains will depart from the Virginia & Truckee Railroad F Street Depot in Virginia City at 4 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 7 p.m., and 8 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults, $6 kids. Corley Ranch Harvest Festival
Every weekend in October, the Corley Ranch sports a corn maze, farmer's market featuring local produce, bounce house, petting zoo, 'State of Nevada' miniature golf, pony rides, pig races, and the giant slingshot. The Corley ranch is at 859 Hwy. 395 in Gardnerville. Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for kids 3 to 17 and seniors, free for kids 2 and under. Haunted Weekend in Carson Valley
The Haunted Weekend in Carson Valley is a series of events running from Thursday, October 18 through Sunday, October 21. Details have not been published yet, but look for ghost walks, ghost investigations, a ghost hunting workshop, and haunted Genoa Cemetery tours. Halloween Events in Fallon
Lattin Farms Corn Maze and Fall Festival
Lattin Farms is about 60 miles east of Reno / Sparks, at 1955 McLean Road, Fallon, NV 89406. The big attraction at Lattin Farms is a huge corn maze that has a different theme each year. For 2012, it's "Nevada Dairies - Got Milk?" The corn maze is open on Fridays from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on Nevada Day (October 26) from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for kids 4 to 14, and free for children under 4. The Lattin Farms Fall Festival is on Saturdays in October, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. There is a hayride, pumpkin patch, cow train, and farm animals to visit. The produce stand is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Lunch at the Country Kitchen is available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
