Patriot Day

Following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, both houses of Congress passed a bill designating September 11 of each year as Patriot Day, to be a national day of mourning and remembrance. President George W. Bush signed it into law on December 18, 2001 (Public Law No. 107-89). Most people still refer to the day as "Nine-Eleven" and everyone knows what it means. On Patriot Day, the U.S. flag is to be flown at half-staff wherever it is displayed, including on private property, at the White House, and at all government facilities worldwide.
