Reno's Huffaker Hills Trailhead
Reno's Huffaker Hills Trailhead is the gateway to a hiking trails system that leads hikers to expansive views in every direction. With only modest effort, these trails take the hiker to the higher of the Twin Peaks for a look at the surrounding landscape, including across Reno all the way to Peavine Peak, Sparks, the Virginia Range, Mt. Rose, and south to the hills around Pleasant Valley.
Reno's Artown
Artown 2009 runs the entire month of July at numerous venues around Reno and includes an amazing variety of art and cultural events. Hundreds of events are free to the public.

Rock Park in Sparks
Rock Park in Sparks was seriously showing its age in 2008, 30 years after it was first established on the banks of the Truckee River. After a complete overhaul, it reopened in May of 2009 with a new Whitewater Park at Rock Park, consisting of over 1,000 feet of fun - five drop pools for kayaking, tubing, and rafting. Riverbank modifications provide for safe water play areas for children and great places for families to enjoy a day at Rock Park.

Reno Fourth 4th of July fireworks shows, and 4th of July celebrations will be found throughout the area; Sparks, Lake Tahoe, Carson City, Virginia City.
Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival
This is the 37th season of the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival, held at Sand Harbor on the eastern shore of Lake Tahoe. The 2009 Festival runs from July 11 through August 23. In addition to two Shakespeare plays, see the Urban Village Music Series and enjoy other activities related to the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival.
