For fun family activities during March, check out the offerings at Galena Creek Visitor Center in south Reno.

Organized activities include winter guided treks, programs for kids from toddlers on up, workshops and talks, bird walks, information about the Mt. Rose Wilderness, and volunteer opportunities. Coming up is the Great Basin Naturalists Spring Break Exploration Camp, providing educational fun for children while they are out of school.
You don't have to join an organized activity to enjoy visiting Galena Creek Visitor Center and Recreation Area. The park is open daily until dusk for things like hiking, snowshoeing, picnicking, and bird watching. During winter, the Galena Creek Visitor Center is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday through Sunday. Summer season hours begin on May 1 (9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday). Parking is free and there are no park entry fees.
Galena Creek Visitor Center and Recreation Area is part of Galena Creek Regional Park, located at 18350 Mt. Rose Highway in south Reno. For more information, call (775) 849-4948.
