By December 10, 2013

A variety of Santas, Mrs. Santas, elves, and other holiday beings will take to the streets of downtown Reno on Saturday night, December 14, 2013, for the 12th Annual Reno Santa Pub Crawl. This roving party involves dozens of bars scattered around the neighborhood, including the Freight House District and some inside casinos. Things get started at 7:30 p.m. - get a crawl map and your first drink at one of the official start bars on the list of participating drinking establishments. Participation in the Reno Santa Pub Crawl is free, but you'll have to pay for your drinks.

To keep things semi-under control, there are a few Santa Pub Crawl rules to party by, the most basic of which is you have to be 21 and wearing some variety of Santa suit to participate. This is a drinking event and there will be big bouncers checking IDs, so be sure to have yours handy. And don't even think about driving, or letting anyone else in your group get behind the wheel. You can safely crash at the Silver Legacy, the official Reno Santa Crawl hotel. Check out the room deals for crawl weekend. Never done the Santa Crawl? Here are some pictures to show what you've been missing.

During the day on Saturday, there are two events of interest to Santa crawlers and friends. Enter the Great Santa Dash 5k run/walk and get a free Santa crawl cup for your efforts (if you can prove you are 21+). The event will be at Wingfield Park starting at 10 a.m. and supports the AIY Foundation. Up at Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe, you can don your Santa suit for a day of discount skiing ($39 lift tickets) and partying. You must wear a Santa or other holiday costume to get the deal. Just a hat won't do.

All this frivolity has the underlying purpose of supporting local charities and our schools. This year, the Reno Santa Crawl is supporting various northern Nevada school projects through DonorsChoose.org.
