Just before the opening, you can enjoy the lighting of Reno's Holiday Tree at a ceremony beginning at 5 p.m. Reno Mayor Bob Cashell and members of the Reno City Council will be there to flip the switch, marking the official beginning of the holiday season.
After the lighting ceremony, Rink on the River will open to the public. Those in attendance will get free skate rental if they bring a donation of new gloves, socks, hats, or scarves, which will go to support the work of the Salvation Army.
Rink on the River is scheduled to be open until February 2, 2014. Operations depend on weather and ice conditions - if in doubt, call the Rink Hotline at (775) 334-6268 to make sure it's open before heading downtown.
