The 4th of July 2013 marks 237 years since that fatefull day in 1776 when independence from Great Britain was declared and the United States was born. It is the single most important holiday celebration in America, and rightfully so.

Fireworks shows are a traditional part of just about any Independence Day celebration and there is some spectacular action to enjoy in the Reno / Tahoe area. The two biggest are Star Spangled Sparks and Lights on the Lake up at South Lake Tahoe. There are numerous other activities and events as well (like Artown), so if you are still looking for something to do, refer to my "Fourth of July in Reno" and "Fourth of July at Lake Tahoe" articles.

Typical American.
July 2nd is your Independance Day, July 4th was when the Declaration was signed.
Also in 1776 It was called The Kingdom of Great Britain.
So that is history as well as geography Americans know nothing of.
Washington and Company Were, and still are classed as British Traitors.
Happy Belated Independance Day.

On Independence Day we should celebrate our Constitutional Rights and Freedoms which so many men and women have fought for- including Freedom of Speech, Religion, Assembly and Press. The art of film has been one of the most powerful vessels for conveying the importance of these rights. Check out the Top 10 Movies of All Time about FREEDOM on a special 4th of July post today at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2012/07/top-10-movies-of-all-time-about-freedom.html to see some impassioned portrayals of our basic rights.
