There is a new, improved system for buying Burning Man tickets for the 2013 festival. Hopefully, it will eliminate the woes generated by the Burning Man ticket fiasco of 2012.

A total of 58,000 tickets will be available. 3,000 tickets were available during a special holiday sale. 10,000 tickets will be sold to select individuals and crews who are critical to Burning Man theme camps, art installations, and mutant vehicles (if you are one of these, you have probably been notified). 4,000 tickets will be sold to those qualifying for low-income consideration. 40,000 tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis to everyone else. Burners must pre-register for all tickets in every category.
Pre-registration for the 40,000 general admission tickets will start on Wednesday, February 6, at 12 noon PST and end on Sunday, February 10, at 12 noon PST. There is no tiered pricing - all tickets are $380 per person. Tickets will then be sold on a first-come, first-served basis starting on February 13.
In August, 1,000 additional tickets will be available to those who missed the initial sale and still want to go. Pre-registration will be between Friday, August 2 at 12 noon PST and Monday, August 5 at 12 noon PST. This first-come first-served sale starts Wednesday, August 7 at 12 noon PST.
To help combat scalping and counterfeiting, Burning Man will be operating its Secure Ticket Exchange Program (STEP) to facilitate the sale of tickets between individuals who want tickets and those who wish to sell tickets. To get in the STEP queue, you can register starting on Thursday, February 28, at 12 noon PST.
I've only given a bare outline of how the 2013 Burning Man ticket sales will be conducted. Go directly to Burning Man for the timeline, pre-registration information, and more about the various aspects of ticket sales. Here are some links...
