Senior programs offered through Reno's Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department are many and varied. As a new year begins, it's a good time to see what's available to the mature residents of our town.
A good place to start is the Senior Connection newsletter, a monthly publication that lists all of the activities going on. Examples of things seniors can participate in include going to plays and shows, day trips to interesting locations, attending UNR basketball games, dances, arts and crafts classes, health and wellness presentations, music workshops, and movies.
For those interested in winter sports, there's the Reno-Tahoe Winter Senior Games, from February 4 through 14. Besides actual winter sports, the Games include some indoor competitions for those who don't do cold. Registration forms are available online or you can call (775) 334-2262 for more information.
