Most of the ski resorts near Reno offer lots of other activities besides skiing and snowboarding. Many of them have developed snow play parks and snow play areas, snowshoeing trails, and cross-country ski areas. They offer multiple attractions to get you up to the snow country and have become good at including features particularly suited to kids and families. If you really are a skier, look for money-saving deals on lift tickets.
There are also some big skiing and snowboarding events for spectators. Squaw Valley hosts the U.S. Alpine Championships and Heavenly has the U.S. Freestyle Championships. Learn more about having fun and saving money on the slopes from "Special Events at Reno / Lake Tahoe Ski Areas and Resorts."
