In addition to programs offered by the Reno and Sparks city recreation departments, there are several other events and activities from which to choose. Organizations with programs include the Nevada Museum of Art, Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum, and VSA Nevada. Get the details from my "Winter Break Camps for Kids in Reno and Sparks" article.
Of course, there are other ways to occupy the kids and other family members. There's Rink on the River ice skating in downtown Reno, plus several other ice rinks around the area. Skiing is an option at this time of year, with just about every resort offering both cross-country lessons and downhill lessons for both kids and adults. For a less formal option, try visiting one of the many snow play areas found throughout the Lake Tahoe area.
