Bears fans were looking for a win to celebrate the reopening of Memorial Stadium on the Berkeley, CA, campus after the original 1923 facility was extensively modernized and upgraded for earthquake safety. However much they enjoyed the new stadium, over 63,000 Bears fans didn't have much to cheer concerning their team's performance.
The win over Cal is Nevada's first victory in a season opening game on the road since 1987. It's also the Pack's second win in a row over Cal (Nevada won at home in 2010, 52 - 31) and only the third time in program history that Nevada has beaten the Bears.
The Wolf Pack's 2012 football schedule brings South Florida to Mackay Stadium in Reno next Saturday, September 8. Kickoff will be at 12:35 p.m. and the weather is forecast to be warm and sunny. If you plan on going to any Wolf Pack home games, be sure to check out the information about getting tickets in my Wolf Pack football article.
It was recently announced that two more Wolf Pack games will be broadcast on Charter Communications TV in the Reno area. They are the October 13 game vs. UNLV (the Battle for the Fremont Cannon) and the November 17 game vs. New Mexico. Check the Charter program listings for exact times and channels.
