Wild West Motorsports Park is the newest sports venue in the Reno / Sparks region and it will be holding its grand opening and first event this weekend. From Friday, August 24, through Sunday, August 26, race fans can enjoy the Toyota Silver State Showdown, which includes rounds 11 and 12 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series.
Qualifying and practice sessions will be on Friday and fans can get free tickets at several local businesses - National Automobile Museum, Outlets at Legends, Burger Me in Reno, and any northern Nevada O'Reilly's Auto Parts. Gates open at 10 a.m. and practice starts at 1:40 p.m.
Here are the time times for the weekend main events...
- Round 11: Saturday, August 25. Gates open at 9 a.m. Qualifying at 9:30 a.m. Opening ceremony is at 2 p.m.
- Round 12: Sunday August 26. Gates open at 9 a.m. Opening ceremony is at 1 p.m.
For the real racing action on Saturday and Sunday, you can get tickets online or at the gate. Those with a free pass from Friday get a $5 discount. Daily admission is $30 for adults, $10 for children. Adult weekend passes are $50. Kids 5 and under are free.
Wild West Motorsports Park was built by Norm Dianda and his locally-owned Q&D Construction. The complex is located just east of Reno / Sparks off I80 at Mustang exit 23. It's only about a 10 minute drive from the metro area.
