If you can't go the toll to visit LEGOLAND in southern California, you can visit a smaller version right up the hill at Heavenly Village in South Lake Tahoe.
It's free and called the LEGO Summer Brickation. It features a hands-on exhibit of the famous building toys and kids can wade in to build whatever their imaginations come up with. Adults are welcome to participate as well, either with kids they bring or they can become kids again for a while and let their imaginations run free.
Play areas include Build Tables, Creation Stations, Race Ramps, a LEGO Challenge Zone, and larger DUPLO bricks for the youngest builders. South Lake Tahoe is one of only four family destination locations chosen for a LEGO Summer Brickation. It is open to the public seven days a week through September 4.
