Slowly but surely, the Tahoe - Pyramid Bikeway is knitting together a multiple use route from Tahoe City on Lake Tahoe's west shore to Pyramid Lake on the Pyramid Lake Indian Reservation.

The newest rideable section of the 116 mile long route opened in mid-2012. It takes you through the McCarran Ranch Preserve east of Reno and Sparks. The McCarran Ranch Preserve is one of several Nature Conservancy projects that are restoring the lower Truckee River to a natural state after decades of abuse by the Army Corps of Engineers and others.
As I mentioned, the Tahoe - Pyramid Bikeway is intended for multiple use. Hikers and equestrians are also welcome along most sections of the route. Learn more about each section that is now open and get the latest information from my "Tahoe - Pyramid Bikeway - Riding from the High Sierra to the High Desert" article.
