Two athletes with northern Nevada roots have made the U.S. Summer Olympics team and will compete in London. The 2012 Summer Games start on July 27 and conclude on August 12.
Jake Dalton, a 2009 graduate of Spanish Springs High School and college student at the University of Oklahoma, is going to London as a member of the U.S. Men's Gymnastics Team. To gain his place on the team, Dalton excelled in the finals in San Jose, CA, winning both the vault and the floor exercise. His fellow team members are Jonathan Horton, Danell Leyva, Sam Mikulak, and John Orozco. The three alternates are Chris Brooks, Steven Legendre, and Alex Naddour.
Pole vaulter Becky Holliday, a 1998 graduate of Reed High School in Sparks, made the U.S. Olympic Team with a vault of 14' 11" at the 2012 U.S. Olympic trials in Eugene, OR. Her teammates are Jenn Suhr and Lacy Janson.
