Elections in 2012 will be the most important in years. The outcomes in local, state, and national races will have lasting effects on the economy and even our daily lives. Whatever your persuasion, I urge you to pay attention to politics (and I know it's going to get painful), then register and get out to vote. So far, we have peaceful transitions of power in the United States, accomplished through the voting process, and it's in everyone's best interest to keep it that way. No sitting on the sidelines complaining if you haven't participated.
You can't vote if you don't register. It's not difficult in Nevada and can even be done by mail (so far, only Clark County has an online system). There are some rules and deadlines to be aware of, so learn the ropes with my How to Register to Vote in Reno and Washoe County article.
