This weekend, December 17 and 18, is your last chance this holiday season to get on board with a Santa train. Trains at the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City will be running each day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with tickets at $3 per seat. Children who can sit on an adult's lap are free. Hot chocolate, food and refreshments will be available, provided by Warren Engine Company #1. Call (775) 687-6953 for more information.
The Nevada State Railroad Museum is at 2180 S. Carson Street in Carson City. If you take U.S. 395 from Reno, keep going until the freeway ends. Go right and you'll come to the museum in a few blocks.
There are more Christmas holiday activities this weekend, including family fun at Galena Creek Visitor Center, Handel's Messiah performed by TOCCATA, "Amahl and the Night Visitors" by the Nevada Opera, Reno Pops Community Christmas Concert, and "The Nutcracker" at John Ascuaga's Nugget. Check my Christmas and Holiday Activities Guide for details on these and more.
