The Wolf Pack football team beat rival Hawaii Saturday night (43-28), avenging their only loss last season. Sadly, the victory was marred by the sudden death of JK Metzker, long-time sports director of KTVN2 in Reno. Metzker had been at the game and was struck by a hit-and-run driver at about 11:50 p.m. while trying to cross N. Virginia Street. He died at a Reno hospital early Sunday morning. Metzker had been with KTVN2 for almost 14 years and leaves behind wife Jaimie and three young sons.

There were plenty of witnesses, who provided a description of the vehicle to police. A short time later, the vehicle was located and Ryan Joseph Rhea of Sparks was arrested by a Washoe County deputy on a felony charge of hit-and-run causing death. More charges may be filed following an investigation into circumstances surrounding the incident. Those wishing to express their condolences may do so on Facebook or by mail to the Metzker family in care of KTVN-TV, 4925 Energy Way, Reno, NV 89502.
The remaining Wolf Pack schedule includes two more home games. On November 19, it's vs.Louisiana Tech. Then comes Idaho on December 3. If you plan on going to either of these Wolf Pack home games, be sure to check out the information about getting tickets in my Wolf Pack football article.
