Reno's 2011 Veterans Day Parade is on Friday, November 11. The parade route is along S. Virginia Street in downtown Reno, starting at Court Street at 11 a.m. and running north to 5th Street. The parade will include veterans groups, high school marching bands and ROTC units, civic organizations, and patriotic citizens. This is the biggest Veterans Day observance in the state and you'll see plenty of Nevada's politicians and other prominent residents - past parades have been attended by local, state, and federal office holders, and business and civic leaders.

Fee-free Days on Federal Lands - During the Veterans Day weekend, November 11 - 13, recreation-related fees for visitors to lands administered by the Nevada BLM will be waived. Some fees will remain in effect - overnight camping, cabin rentals, and group day use fees. Other federal lands will also be observing the same fee-free days. The National Park Service will open over 100 units in its system, including Death Valley National Park and Lake Mead National Recreation Area in Nevada. Check the websites for information about lands administered by other federal agencies.

Even though the weather may be chilly, seems as though folks are undaunted and still like get out of doors to enjoy a good parade.
