Inspired by the "Occupy" protests around the country (including here in Reno), the homeless animals of Nevada Humane Society have launched their own campaign to Occupy Hearts and Homes. The dogs and cats are making signs and gearing up for the protest, and there are even rumors of a doggy tent city. The demonstration will take place Friday, November 4 at the Nevada Humane Society shelter at 2825-B Longley Lane in Reno, from 11 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Animal lovers can make a difference by visiting the shelter throughout the day and joining the dogs and a couple of fearless cats for The March to Occupy Hearts and Homes at 2 p.m.

In order to help the pets achieve their goal of finding homes, Nevada Humane Society is offering free adoptions for people who will give an adult cat a loving home and $45 dog adoption fees for those who will adopt a canine companion. Kittens are $30. Adoption fees are good Thursday, November 3, through Sunday, November 6. For more information, call (775) 856-2000.
