Reno's Community e-Waste Collection Event for Fall 2011 will be on Saturday, October 22. Round up your old electronics gizmos and bring them to the site of the old Park Lane Mall, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., for proper disposal and recycling.
This is your chance to get rid of those old consumer electronics in an environmentally responsible way. The event will be held in the big vacant lot where the Park Lane Mall used to be, on the corner of Plumb Lane and Virginia Street. The disposal service is provided for a donation of $10 in advance or $20 the day of the event. Items that will be accepted include TVs, computers, laptops, monitors, keyboards, cords/cables, power supplies, printers, DVD players, and cell phones. Big metal stuff will also be accepted, like washers, dryers, metal shelving, and car parts.Advance vouchers can be bought at New2U Computers on Glendale Ave. in Sparks and Whole Foods Market on S. Virginia Street in Reno. The fee goes to cover recycling and data destruction costs. This event is intended for private residents. If you are a business, please don't bring a huge amount of stuff expecting a cheapie dumping service. If you would like to volunteer or need more information, contact New2U at (775) 329-1126.
