The Occupy Wall Street movement, already active in hundreds of cities across the country, is now in Reno. Occupy Reno will be holding a march and rally on Saturday, October 15, starting at noon at the Joe Crowley Student Union on the UNR campus. From there, a march will proceed down Virginia Street to the City Plaza (across from City Hall) in downtown Reno for an assembly beginning at 1 p.m.

With the slogan "We are the 99%," the Occupy movement raises an alternate voice to America's richest 1% and is a response to the increasing inequities in our society. It is a protest against corporate greed and disappearing economic opportunities for the vast majority of Americans. With Nevada being the foreclosure capital of the United States and sporting an unemployment rate of 13.4%, Nevadans have good cause to rally for a system that takes their needs into account.
