#About - In addition to this weekend's big event, the Great Reno Balloon Race and 9/11 anniversary commemorations, there is quite a variety of other activities from which to choose.

The Discovery - The Discovery is the new Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum in Reno. The grand opening is on Saturday, September 10 and will be an event for the whole family. The Discovery is at 490 S. Center Street. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday - Saturday, noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. General admission is $8. Members and kids under one are free. For more information, call (775) 786-1000. The Discovery is a hands-on learning place designed as a learning experience for children of all ages.

National Automobile Museum - Smokin' Hot Fun with Fire Trucks will be outside the Museum on September 10, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will feature a display of historic fire vehicles and the opportunity to play and compete with working fire hoses. Children and adults can check their knowledge in the interactive fire safety trailer. Food will be available from Lucky Dawgs on the Museum's riverside patio. Enter the raffle for a chance to win a restored fire hydrant from the event sponsor, Firematic Collectors of Northern Nevada. Museum admission will he half off all day. Pirate Crawl - The Pirate Crawl is a fundraiser supporting YMCA of the Sierras, John Stephen Klacking Foundation for Childhood Cancer, and Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 the day of. Crawling starts at Harrah's Reno at 7 p.m. on September 10. This is a drinking event for adult pirates in costume and will be at several watering holes in downtown Reno. There will be prizes, contests, and other surprises.

Reno Aces Baseball Playoffs - The Reno Aces are in the Pacific Conference Championship series. The first games, against the Sacramento River Cats at Aces Ballpark, are at 6:35 p.m. on September 7 and 8. Get tickets online, at the stadium ticket office, or call (775) 334-7000. There will be special promotions at both games and fireworks after the game on the 8th. If the Aces advance, future home games in the series will be on September, 16, 17, and 18.

Nevada Museum of Art - It's free admission at the Nevada Museum of Art on the second Saturday of each month, which happens to be September 10. There are several cool exhibits and other events in September, including the Renaissance masterpiece Titian's La Bella - Woman in a Blue Dress opening on September 24.

Tahoe Expo - The first Tahoe Expo is a one-day event on September 10. Tahoe Expo takes place at various locations all around Lake Tahoe and is divided into two areas of emphasis. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. GeoTourism offers a variety of events about Lake Tahoe's wildlife, water, forest, and culture and history. The Expo After-Party will be at Sand Harbor from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., featuring food, drink, and dancing. Public transit and free shuttle service are available and encouraged.
